My name is Rita Daughtry. My husband Bruce and I have been breeding/raising boxers for 10yrs. It began when someone in our neighborhood had stolen our two huskies (Tahkeena and Sol’leks). I was raised all my life with huskies and samoys. My family was devastated.

My friend at work had another baby, and a few months later realized she was going to have another. She had two older children already. They also had just bought a new boxer puppy. She would come to work and ask me how to potty train a puppy. How do I stop this puppy from chewing, jumping, and licking us in the face. She had never owned a dog before, had two babies and was working. It became to much for her and she knew we just lost our two dogs. So she asked me if I wanted to buy this puppy she had told me so much about.

So we bought our first boxer (Eve). Eve was a beautiful flashy fawn with a little black around her eyes. She was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. She was only a year old, she was still a puppy. She loved my children right away. She was the most amazing dog ever.  She showed emotions like a person. She followed us around and would not let us out of her sight. Go to the bathroom, there she was. Cook dinner, she had to be right there. Get in bed under the covers, she had to be under the covers too. We would go to a BBQ, she had to go too.

We quickly fell in love with the breed. There truly is not any other breed like it. They are loyal, obedient, loving, friendly, and protective. As you can imagine soon it was boxer this and boxer that, until we owned two boxers, then three boxers. Now we own 6. Each one of our boxers have their own personality. There are no two boxers alike. Each one is full of love and emotion. That’s were their personality similarities end.

Some are vocal, while others are silent. Some are mischievous and others are obedient. One likes to sneak cookies, while another won’t even eat them. Although all of them bark when there is a knock at the door. They all love to sleep in our bed.

My Bruno is very loving, yet protective until I let him know everything is okay. Champ is like a playful clown. Lea’la is so patient and loving, you could pet and hug her all day and she never gets tired of it. Gypsy is my emotional one that likes to show how much she loves you by being up close and smothering you with kisses. Shannon is so energetic and cheerful, bouncing all over. She is still a puppy at a year old. Max is sincere and patient, he will always greet you cheerfully, while waiting for a pat on the head, or a big kiss on the cheek.

So as you can see although they are all boxers. Each one has its own personality. No two are alike. So please remember if you have just lost a longtime member of your family. And you’re considering a new boxer puppy, it is and individual and has its own unique personality. Making each one unique and very special.

We raise all of our boxers in our home with my family. Bruce and I personally whelp each litter and assist each mother, bringing her puppies into the world. Having a litter of puppies in my home is a huge event. Each Litter is carefully bred and planned for. Each parent is health tested. Every preparation we can think of is done to welcome each new litter into the world. We rearrange my whole dining room, to make space for the whelping box. We raise each litter in the dining room, so we don’t miss anything. The mothers are very pampered. The puppies are carefully tended to daily. They are handled and cared for by everyone in my home. They are always around children.  By raising them in the dining room, they get used to noise and the hustle and bustle of everyday things. We have found this to make them more social, loving, and people orientated. Making them social is very important to us.

We at Daughtry Boxers are trying to do our best to breed puppies with sound health and good temperament. By careful select breeding we are trying to improve our bloodlines and bring out the best qualities of each parent, hoping to produce our own champions. We are proud of each and every puppy that we breed. We stay in contact with all purchasers to admire and love our puppies as they grow. Our boxers are not just dogs to us, to sell off and never hear from us again. To Bruce and I they and their offspring have become our children. Boxers are not just part of our lives anymore. They are our lives.

Each of our boxers are, AKC Registered and have sound health and wonderful temperament. Both of my stud males have been DNA Certified. All of the males and females in our breeding program have been Heart and Thyroid tested and certified through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals.

One of my females is Ch. Sired.  The rest are very nicely champion lined coming from excellent bloodlines. I have purchased the great grandparents pedigrees from AKC to trace the bloodlines, all are greatly extended champion lines.

We have placed puppies in homes all over the United States and even in Canada. We love our puppies. Our boxers have become our lives, it’s very important to us to make sure they go to good loving families who will be there for them their whole lives. We feel so strongly for each puppy that we carefully approve each family trying to place the right puppy into the right homes. We stay in contact with each family collecting pictures and letters for our albums. We like to meet each family face to face, we have never shipped a puppy to anyone we cannot meet in person. We do our best to make sure every family is as happy with our puppies as we our.

Although none of our own boxers have been shown. We our currently in the process of learning all about the show world of boxers. We went to our First Boxer Show, Hosted by the Michigan Boxer Club on July 3rd. We were acquainted with some very wonderful people. Not to mention all the most beautiful boxers. It truly was a joyous occasion. My daughter Sarah and I had the most wonderful time. Sarah wants to take classes on how to be a handler. ANd if all goes well soon we will have our own boxers in the show world.

In the ring a boxer truly is the most Beautiful sight to behold!
